ATLANTA, March 10, 2015 – The White House announced earlier today a new TechHire initiative to train and put to work 500,000 underserved Americans. Rural Sourcing is proud to announce that they, along with other companies have committed to provide their expertise and experience in workforce development to this effort. Rural Sourcing, an onshore software development company with development centers throughout the United States, will provide pro bono consulting services to community colleges, entrepreneurs and other community leaders to accelerate these efforts based on RSI’s proven method for identifying, hiring and training workers for jobs in the technology sector.
America has about 5 million open jobs today, more than at any point since 2001. Over half a million of those job openings are in information technology fields like software development, network administration, and cybersecurity, many of which did not even exist just a decade ago. The average salary in a job that requires information technology (IT) skills – whether in manufacturing, advertising, retail or banking, is 50 percent higher than the average private-sector American job. Helping more Americans train and connect to these jobs is a key element of the President’s middle-class economics agenda.
“Rural Sourcing is excited to participate in this initiative with the forward-thinking communities to create programs that ensure that their citizens have the skills needed to compete in a global marketplace. Further through these programs individuals should be able to remain in the communities where they currently live without having to move to major technology hubs,” said Monty Hamilton, CEO of Rural Sourcing.
As part of the TechHire initiative, 20 regions with open technology jobs, and more than 300 employers, are announcing plans to work together to create more tech training opportunities. The President plans to announce TechHire in a speech to the National League of Cities at 11:30am EST in Washington, D.C. Live coverage will be available at https://www.whitehouse.gov.
