Application Needed to Reduce Lengthy Payment Cycles

A SaaS company catering to clients in the home building industry wanted to build a new payment system that would allow bank transfers, payments to and from clients, vendors and banks that met compliance and security requirements, while also improving the user experience. Up until this point, home building manufacturers didn’t have a digital payment application and had to mail out invoices and wait for paper checks to be received and cleared, before paying out to their vendors. This would be an industry-changing solution.

Using a Microservices Approach

The proposed solution would replace the existing payment methods that required manual and lengthy payment cycles. It would be a cloud-native application using AWS and AWS services. The solution uses AWS API Gateway, AWS Lambda, AWS CloudFront, Step Functions, Cognito, CloudWatch, S3 and various other supporting services. The application was deployed and maintained by using CI/CD and DevOps concepts to allow a microservices approach to developing and updating specific components over time.

A Highly Resilient and Secure Payment Gateway

By leveraging AWS and the aforementioned services, our client was able to deploy a highly resilient, secure payment gateway that allows user management and auditability. The architecture adheres to internal IT policies, with robust accountability and improved transaction processing time. The end solution also allows easy growth by adding new vendors, managing vendors of different sizes and getting them paid in a timely manner.
