We partnered with Rover, the world’s largest network for pet owners and sitters in over 10 countries, when they identified their in-house teams had become unable to keep up with the demands of the growing business. If they wanted to gain presence in the market and expand their business, they needed a boost to their development productivity.

Our team working for Rover was formed including full stack React and Django developers, React Native experts and Data Engineers. We established a fluent and transparent communication with the client to keep a steady rhythm of progress while taking care of the experience of more than 40 million people who use the app. We started by migrating part of their system to the newest version of Django. After a successful first step, our collaboration grew to support Rover’s in-house teams in six different areas that work with diverse goals: increasing bookings from new clients in the platform through SEO optimization; improving the matching platform by optimizing search features and algorithms; ensuring cookie consent policies are being fulfilled; identifying and validating opportunities to expand the business; optimizing the collected data and elevating user experience to improve user retention. The entire time we had periodic calls where our teams aligned expectations and shared feedback about the work. These tools allowed us to blend in seamlessly with the client’s teams and impact their development productivity for the better.

Over the years we’ve had many achievements, such as migrating the platform to React Native for better performance. We also implemented new business units such as a training service and pet insurance. To also make things easier for pet sitters, we’ve added a new calendar to show their schedule. In terms of SEO, the team improved the site speed and increased the brand’s ranking on search engines. With GitHub implementation, we made releases more efficient and the coding process faster. For Data Management, we supported a migration process that resulted in a large cost reduction. At the end of the day, our professionals, located within different areas inside Rover, are being part of the necessary transformations that are taking this client further. One of their biggest wins recently was being acquired by private equity funds affiliated with Blackstone.
