New Electronic Price Tag Solution for Revenue Growth

challenge

UNDERSERVED RETAIL MARKET COULDN'T AFFORD EXISTING PRICE TAG SOLUTIONS

SES-imagotag is the #1 retail business in the electronic tag sector worldwide, providing retail businesses such as Walmart and Sephora with smart electronic price labels and pricing automation. Over 230 million SES-imagotag electronic tags can be found in 22,000+ stores and 60+ countries.

After succeeding in the development of an enterprise solution, SES-imagotag realized they could help small and medium retailers as well through a cost-effective app specifically for SMBs. They decided to outsource this project to a software development agency to expedite their plans: while their in-house team focused on their core product yearly roadmap, we came in as a flexible, agile partner to meet this new service’s time to market so they could realize additional revenue growth.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION

We built a mobile app to manage the digital pricing process in a secure and accurate way. With it, users can organize their products’ data and how they want to display prices. The solution integrates with retailers’ Point-of-Sale (POS) systems in order to gather product information automatically. We used React and Firebase, a Google platform for building apps that makes it easier to create databases, implement authentication steps and push notifications, and many other cloud-based services.

After downloading the app directly from the app store, users are able to connect with SES-imagotag’s access point and see all the product and tag information in a single interface. Users can edit pricing tag information and visual setup, filter their products, add new tags using a barcode, or unlink old ones and even initiate a flashing process that makes the physical price tag emit a light.

A MOBILE APP THAT SUPPORTS IN-STORE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY

As SES-imagotag works with multiple professionals from different countries, we interacted with many colleagues in this project, from backend engineers to marketers, in order to come up with the right solution. It was vital to align expectations and communicate with a diversity of stakeholders, which we managed by following agile practices and a collaborative mindset, always keeping success in mind.

The final result is a product that opens SES-imagotag to a new, underserved market, boosting their revenue growth in an unprecedented way.
