Our client, a nationwide transportation and logistics provider, had a legacy credit processing application that was not scalable and had error-prone, time-consuming inefficiencies that were adversely affecting employees and customers. In addition to frustrations over a cumbersome process, this application was essential for winning new business, so its inefficiencies meant that our client wasn’t able to realize revenue as quickly. Additionally, its deprecated libraries meant that it couldn’t receive security updates, so it was becoming increasingly risky to use over time. Our client wanted a better understanding of how to move towards modernization with the least amount of risk involved.

Collaborative and Comprehensive Discovery Workshop

After conducting interviews with team leads, infrastructure support, and data and engineering managers we created a matrix balancing anticipated business needs, regulatory requirements, risk reduction, developer experience, operational efficiency, and the software architecture roadmap. With these factors in mind, we facilitated a group discussion establishing priorities and grading different approaches including:
