Three Reasons Why You Should Intern at Sparq

Whether you’re a college student looking to hone your skills or someone transitioning to a new career, an internship can give you critical exposure to your chosen career path. We’ve designed our internship program to give Junior Associates (JAs) the education and experience needed for success in the technology field, regardless of the path they choose. Here are just a few reasons why you’ll want to do an internship at Sparq.

Hands-on tech experience

We want your internship at Sparq to give you hands-on experience in your practice area. Whether that’s by working with one of our Fortune 500 or 1000 clients, or collaborating on an internal project with your team. Past JA projects include a volunteer calendar where you can find volunteer opportunities in your area and filter it based on your interests, an SMS communication tool, and even a meme generator. Holden, a Junior Associate in our Mobile Development Center says, “I’m proud of the fact that Sparq’s internship is so heavily focused on my growth as a developer and tech consultant. Every day, I can feel how much the company invests in me and my future.”

Soft skills training

Being a software developer usually involves more than just being skilled in your chosen technology. That’s why we offer lots of opportunities to develop your soft skills, too. Working in a team, acting as a consultant, and being able to speak confidently among your peers and clients are all skills that we’ll help you improve on. We’ll assign you a mentor, so you can get formal feedback and guidance on your work and you’ll have access to LinkedIn Learning so you can expand your knowledge in other areas.

Welcoming, friendly culture

We understand that you’re doing an internship because you want to learn, which is why we’ve worked hard to create a culture where you can feel comfortable doing just that. At Sparq, we want you to ask questions and we understand that sometimes you’ll make mistakes. That’s ok! Here, a culture of learning means you never stop improving, no matter how long you’ve worked in technology. Plus, we just love having fun together – whether that’s through volunteering, playing board games, or month-long Halloween celebrations (we’re looking at you, Albuquerque!) Lauren, a Junior Associate in our Oklahoma City Development Center says she chose to do an internship at Sparq because of “Sparq’s commitment to develop their employees as their most valuable resources, as well as their dedication to fostering a rich and supportive culture of inclusion and acceptance.”

So if you want to grow as a developer, improve some of those soft skills, and learn from colleagues who are eager to help you succeed, Sparq might just be the place for you. We’re currently hiring JAs in our .NET, Java and Web practice areas. Head here to apply.
