ATLANTA, January 21, 2014 – Rural Sourcing, leading domestic IT sourcing company focused on cost-effective onshore software development and support, announced today the opening of its new Software Development Center (SDC) in Mobile, Alabama. With the addition of this center, Rural Sourcing Inc. will be adding 100 jobs to the local and US economy.
The announcement was made on January 21, 2014 by Sandy Stimpson, Mayor of Mobile, Alabama, Connie Hudson, County Commissioner of Mobile County, Monty Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of Rural Sourcing, and state and city officials.
Rural Sourcing’s mission is to be the onshore alternative for software development and support that might traditionally be offshored to countries such as India and China. By opening these technology hubs in low cost US cities, Rural Sourcing helps clients lower their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for IT. Furthermore, by having software centers in the US, Rural Sourcing’s clients benefit from common language, culture alignment and time zone compatibility.
“We are excited to be an early investor and catalyst for the tremendous growth in the digital economy in Mobile,” said Monty Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer at Rural Sourcing, “This office will give us the capacity to meet the continued growth and demand for software developers in the areas of mobile technologies, cloud-based technologies and ERP systems such as SAP.”
The Atlanta-based firm chose Mobile due to its high quality of life and low cost of living. Mobile’s highly ranked educational institutions and strong work ethic provide quality candidates for the many open positions that RSI has already begun interviewing for.
“We are pleased and excited to welcome Rural Sourcing as our newest corporate citizen in Mobile,” said Sandy Stimpson, Mayor of Mobile, AL, “We recruited them aggressively because they represent the kind of business we want to cultivate – young, smart, innovative and poised for future growth. We are particularly pleased to see them locate downtown, where they will help our ongoing efforts to revitalize downtown Mobile.”
Merceria Ludgood, president of the Mobile County Commission also noted, “We welcome a high-tech, clean industry that offers great new options for our workforce. This is a company that broadens the diversity of local businesses. It is that diversity that makes our economy resilient and vibrant, even during times of economic decline.””
The permanent location of the center is still being determined but the company will temporarily reside at 456 Civic Center Drive in downtown Mobile.
