Modernized Applications Improve Quality of Care for Senior Citizens

challenge

Healthcare Merger Requires Modernized Technology

Two large healthcare technology providers had recently merged into one comprehensive platform for managing payments and care programs. Their reach into the home, community and cross-sites of care enables holistic support of individuals, lessening dependence on facility-centric care and preventing adverse events. Their combined product portfolio needed to be updated to align with a modern .NET tech stack to eliminate technical debt. The future of this product was uncertain as the client wasn’t sure if they could use their in-house systems to accommodate the type of work it does. They asked us to quickly scale-up a Scrum-as-a-Service team that included colleagues in product management, .NET web development and quality assurance.

Multidisciplinary Scrum-as-a-Service™ Teams

We assembled our first multidisciplinary Scrum-as-a-Service team to enhance and support our client’s legacy application using .NET. Soon after, we ramped up another one to digitize our client’s paper-based forms in order to minimize face-to-face time with patients. We’ve also created and maintained the system that our client uses in its work with skilled nursing facilities. Providers can use our software to evaluate patients’ health and determine a personalized plan of care to help them through their health journey. Elderly patients tend to have a lot of diagnoses, so this platform helps them manage those more efficiently.

Long-term Partnership and Improved Processes

We quickly became a trusted partner to our client, which has led to us working on a total of four applications for them. We’ve helped our client make their processes more efficient and provide a technologically advanced form of patient care. By digitizing their paper-based forms, it reduced time in-home by 15%. This minimized unnecessary face-to-face time providers spent with their elderly patients, which was absolutely crucial at the height of the pandemic. By utilizing our Scrum-as-a-Service teams, our client was able to quickly scale up product development and achieve product development goals and quickly scale down once projects were completed. Our work is helping ensure that quality, digitally-focused healthcare is available to a population that doesn’t always receive it. Utilizing our platform, our client has completed over 1.4 million in-home health evaluations.
