Our Mission in Action: Cameron Mabb

Cameron Mabb joined the talent acquisition team at Sparq, his first role in the tech industry. Cameron has quickly discovered that working at RSI means he can have a career that aligns with his goals and his values. Learn about Cameron’s journey from military policeman to talent acquisition consultant.

Serving in the Army

After graduating high school, Cameron immediately enlisted in the Army. He started as a military policeman before working in the criminal investigations division as a narcotics officer. He was then selected by the Army to become a recruiter, which was a big change for Cameron as he had always envisioned himself staying in law enforcement. He was assigned to his hometown of Rochester, NY and found out that despite his initial hesitation he absolutely loved the recruiting field. After retiring from the Army in May 2021, he began working with a DoD contracted company, finding healthcare professionals to staff military facilities across the country.

Looking for More Growth

While working in this role, Cameron found that although he was enjoying recruiting work, he was looking for a better work-life balance and more opportunities for growth. He applied at RSI after seeing the job posting for a recruiter based in the Buffalo area, where he currently lives. “The tech industry has grown exponentially and it really piqued my interest. After my first interview, I realized that this company felt like the right fit for me. RSI has an amazing team atmosphere even though we are remote. Plus, living where we have a development center in the area is an added bonus.”

Embracing our Mission

As a Veteran, Cameron says that when he’s assessing potential career opportunities, he looks for companies that have a clear mission, which is exactly why Sparq stood out to him. “I really liked the idea of being part of an onshore IT resource that brings technically-focused employment to areas where they are severely lacking, like Buffalo. Being able to find candidates who create and perform actions that can have drastic impact on our communities and society as a whole is very exciting to be a part of. It’s good to be able to help my local community find fulfilling careers and become part of the RSI family.”
